History of the REBEL
Wilmington native Alex Grant originally started The Rebel as a catering business in 2006. Within a short period of time, the catering business became a huge success. With dreams of expansion, his aspirations quickly evolved into the creation of a full service restaurant. The location was chosen because of the additions and renovations taking place in downtown Wilmington’s Riverfront and Ships Tavern/LOMA Districts. When asked why he chose to name the restaurant the Rebel, Grant said  “A Rebel represents a product of deterrence, because its going against what most people advise you not to do, so therefore I named my restaurant the Rebel”. The Rebel continues to specialize in Southern and Caribbean cuisine along with various specials, while maintaining its original recipes and quality.
